About the Service
Is this an official service?
No, Miramiru is an unofficial fan site with no affiliation to SQUARE ENIX. It is developed and operated by an individual.
Do you make money from this?
Currently, we do not monetize through ads or subscriptions.
Server and operating costs (several thousand yen per month) are covered personally.
However, we may introduce minimal advertising in the future to help sustain the service, without generating profit.
Is the creator an FF player? Who's behind this?
Yes, the creator is an active FFXIV player (Niique Noela / Anima (Mana)).
Some people suspected impersonation since I previously said I'd quit FF on X, but I just couldn't stop playing.
As a solo developer, there are still many rough edges, but I'd love to hear your feedback on Discord or X.
Features & Technology
Does the auto gear detection use generative AI? Could my data be used for training?
No, we do not use generative AI and your data is never used for training.
We detect equipment icon positions from your glamour plate screenshot, then match them against a database of over 27,000 items using traditional image processing techniques.
Since it's not 100% accurate, you'll be asked to select or correct from suggested candidates.
How does the auto gear detection work?
On the post creation screen, press the "Auto-fill from Screenshot" button and upload a screenshot of your FFXIV glamour plate.
Equipment candidates will be suggested for each slot — just select the correct one.
Security & Privacy
Why does login ask for email or Twitter read permissions?
These permissions are included due to the authentication platform (Supabase Auth) we use.
However, Miramiru only uses your email for important communications like contest result notifications, and we never read or store your X (Twitter) post content.
You can also post using our guest feature, which requires neither an email address nor OAuth linking.
Is this allowed under FFXIV's terms of service?
We operate in compliance with SQUARE ENIX's "Materials Usage License" and "Fan Kit Usage Terms."
In-game images and item names are copyrighted by SQUARE ENIX and are used within the guidelines as a fan site, consistent with other FFXIV community sites.
We will promptly comply with any policy changes from SQUARE ENIX.
Additionally, posting MOD screenshots is prohibited in our terms of service.
Will my character info be scraped? What is Lodestone linking?
We never automatically collect character information.
Lodestone linking is an optional verification feature to prove a character belongs to you. You can post without linking.
To link, you temporarily place a keyword in your Lodestone profile for identity verification.
Once linked, the following public information is retrieved and stored:
- Character name
- Home world
- Race, clan, and gender
- Face icon
All of this is publicly available information that anyone can view on Lodestone.
